What exactly is this? I just purchased the Powerpack download version, but now Iam confused thinking I should have purchased the download subscription instead. Can someone explain the difference to me? Am I now suppose to pay for the powerpack club subscription? It wasn't very clear to me at the store website. I am assuming that you can't belong to the powerpack club until you purchase te powerpack. Any help would be appreciated.

Under gnome it seems hal do not look at the proper place:
4 partions recognised by kde but none under gnome .
when I connect an usb it's ok but not the statics one situated in /mnt
it's ennoying to go always in this dir
How do I make it work please...
(do I have to put them or link in media ?)

2nd probleme it's the sound stopping to work without notice or when I change of user
a fix somewhere ?

I did a new install of 2008. The first problem was initial bootup after install I got a mandriva page with blue printing that was full off options for mandriva products. No place to close it. Needed to ctry>alt>backspace to get into login window. Only occurred on initial boot.

Major problem is I am now required to give my password to go into root. I never had to do this in prior versions. I think what happened is I was not asked for the security option prior to password request. The default is high. I always use standard which obviously does not require a password. I changed the security in the summary window near the end of the installation to standard. How do I get rid of the root password requirement??

Need to clear this up so I can get back to seeding.

So far everything else looks good.

dma to my dvd drive is enabled.
the medium type is definitely not wrong as the debug info points out.
could this just be a case of crappy imation discs?
any clues?

Hi guys

I'm running Mandriva One 2007 Spring on my Acer 9303WSMi laptop and my sound is driving me nuts.

The sound on my laptop speakers works perfectly. When I plug in my Logitech usb headset, I still get sound on my laptop speakers, but nothing on my headset. The microphone works fine, but the speakers == NO SOUND

Cannot see in networking section of MCC where to delete a network interface. What have I missed? Am having problems and want to delete and start over in case other drivers e.g.bc43 are causing problems.

If no gui available then what commands should I use?

Also, can someone explain what 'network hotplugging' and 'allow roaming' options do as I need to use the laptop on two networks.

Should I use network profiles - I think there were problems with this at one time?

Have tried to keep posting concise but just ask if any other info required!

Since yesterday for me and a many other people repository access as been "iffy" to say the least. This morning i found one that actually worked for me (sorry cant remember which one" and i managed to get a full urpmi --auto-update to work.

Whilst trying to install the latest taks-kde4 metapackage it failed with the usual curl -19 error, so i tried adding more repositories thouugh rpmdrake.

Lo and behold the new version asked me if i wanted "Official Updates (2008.0) or Distribution sources (2008.0)". I have only ever seen this on official mandriva releases and never on cooker.

I now have Main Official, Main updates, Contrib Official and Contrib Updates enabled.

Am i to assume that Final has been released to the ftp mirrors and its now only a matter of time before we can download the ISOs??????????????/

Is this normal and a question pending the availability of the full infrastructure for 2008.0 (club software?) or is there simply something that should be added to the distribution?. An (even confusing) lot of 3945 related modules (kernel, dkms package) do exist in RC2, but they do not help without that driver (and the sourceforge link does not really help).

Hey i posted this before but thought i would try again. When I hook a optima projector to my laptop running spring 2007.1 with a vga cable i can see the system booting with the image on the wall as soon as kde kicks in the image is gone but back on my laptop screen. Using propietery drivers but cant figure this out....any ideas?

I have an old laptop (Thinkpad 770) and want it to use as SVN server.

With 160 MB RAM I decided I do not need a graphical environment.

Can someone explain how to do this?

I tried to use the standard installation process but opted to not install any graphical environment - but I did not really know what packages to install or not install so the result was kinda weird, Wireless didn't work and of course I had no SVN server ^^

Any hints?

I installed 2008 RC1, then kept it up to date.
The problem now is boot time, it takes 10 + minutes to check three hard drives, then once I'm in the system a user can't mount them until their mounted and umounted by root.

In a 2007.1 install boot time is 1:40 minutes and the drives can be mounted by a user.

I'll install 2008 fresh when it comes out to see if the problem persists.

I had the impression (and no i cant remember where I got it, THAT would make things to easy) that 2008 was going to use a different toolset, other than mklivecd to create their "live disc" this time.

now since i CRS and have these occasiona; reality jumps I could be way off, but anyone who might have some insight would be appreciated.

Today I found that I couldn't download software from my configured distribution source. I thought it was probably the mirror, so deleted that source and tried to configure a new one.

Tried several mirrors, with the same error on all.

Epson ME1 printer doesn't have an official driver for Linux.
How to make this printer work?
You can log in "root", and then turn on your printer. Please wait for a while. A messagebox will appear and recognize it as Epson ME1 printer. Then it will ask you whether driver you want to choose. You can choose "Epson Stylus C46". OK! Now your printer can print texts and pictures!
