The first beta version of Mandriva Linux 2007 has been released !

Available in four different flavours (KDE or GNOME, i586 or x86_64) and a Dual Architecture Installation DVD, get a glimpse of the next Mandriva Linux 2007 edition.

Note that not all of the new features have been implemented yet and that a beta version is not bug-proof, on the contrary. This is why we strongly encourage everyone to test and report any bugs or surprises they may encounter.

Main changes :

  • New Mirror structure

  • New network popup notifications (on network state mainly)

  • Gnome 2.16 beta 1

  • Kernel 2.6.17

  • KDE 3.5.3

  • Updated wireless application (drakroam) (especially on encrytion)

  • Switch to new standard menus, XDG (in progress)

4 live/install CDs flavours :

  • Gnome Live CD for i586 processors (also works on x86_64 processors)

  • Gnome Live CD for x86_64 processors

  • KDE Live CD for i586 processors (also works on x86_64 processors).

  • KDE Live CD for x86_64 processors.

Dual Architecture Installation :

  • Mandriva 2007 Beta Installation DVD (4.3 GiB)

  • Mandriva 2007 Beta Installation CDs (6x700 MiB)

You are encouraged to test and comments this beta release.

  • Check that all your hardware is supported. Note that these ISO files only include free software, you may need to check with your hardware manufacturer for the appropriate drivers or firmwares (especially ATI and NVidia video cards, Intel centrino wireless ipw2100/2200 Wifi cards, Hsf modem...)

  • Report any missing or unwanted software
