Using PowerPack for Multimedia

PowerPack is a great system for multimedia and can do it all: play audio and video files, support digital cameras, etc. You can use it for design, 3d modeling and rendering, music composition, audio editing, etc. The only limit is your creativity.

Listen to music

It's as simple as popping in a CD or clicking on a file. Amarok, Mplayer and XMMS handle most types of audio documents. Grip, also available in PowerPack, is a nice tool for ripping audio CD's to a hard drive. Look at a screenshot.

Watch videos

Kaffeine, Mplayer, Xine, and Totem can play DVD's, DivX's and MPEG movies, and, you can configure them to get the precise kind of output you want.

Digital photography

Plug in your digital camera* and an icon will appear on the desktop from which you can access, copy or delete every picture you've stored. USB storage devices work in the same straightforward manner. Kooka and SANE make scanning images under Linux a breeze.

Create!

The Gimp is a state-of-the-art picture and photo editor and can be used to create logos and artwork. Blender is a great Open Source application for modeling and rendering.
