USB keys compatible with Mandriva Move

Move can store configuration files and personal data on USB keys. Unfortunately, some USB keys do not fully respect mass storage standards and cannot be used with Move.

Note:
For many incompatible keys, enabling the "formatkey" option at Move startup solves the problem. Refer to the manual for details.

In order to inform our customers about the compatibility status of USB keys, we have set up a hardware database which includes:
- Those USB keys that have been tested by our engineers
- Those USB keys that have been tested and given a status report by the Mandriva Linux community
If you own a key that is not listed in the database (working or not), please report it to our labs (see below).

*   Hardware database

You can consult our database to learn more about the tested keys. To do so, please follow these steps:

Go to the hardware database page
- In the field "Type of hardware", select "USB Key"
- In the field "Distribution", select "Move"
- Click "Search"
You'll be presented with a list of all tested keys (tested by our engineers or by the community) along with their status. Click on the keys to get more details (comments made by the tester, etc.)

*   USB key status reporting

To inform us of the status of a USB Key, which is not listed or is incorrectly listed in the database, please use the following form.

Please enter your e-mail address. We need to be able to contact you if more details are required (about your chipset, etc.). We really can not add a new USB key if the e-mail address is not valid.

Please enter the brand of your key (eg: Lexar Media).

Please enter the model of your key and its capacity (eg: JumpDrive 128 MB).

After having plugged-in your key, please enter the result of the command lspcidrake -v | grep Mass.
(eg: "unknown : LEXAR MEDIA |JUMPDRIVE [Mass Storage|SCSI|Bulk (Zip)] (vendor:05dc device:0080)"

To execute this command

  1. open a console: Menu > Administer your system > Use a terminal emulator;
  2. enter the command: lspcidrake -v | grep Mass;
  3. select the result with the mouse;
  4. copy it to the clipboard: Edit > Copy;
  5. paste it into this field: Edit > Paste.

Please enter the status of your USB key

Please enter any useful comment (eg: Works only after having used the "formatkey" option)
